Some Frequently Asked Questions are:

If you don’t have scheduled semesters, when do students have breaks?
As part of our flexible curriculum and open, year-round enrollment, Cedar Ridge Academy does not have officially scheduled breaks. The advantage of this is that parents may excuse their child from the school for family vacations when it suits the family’s and the parents’ schedules to do so. There are no times that the dorms are closed and students must find other lodging—we are staffed in the dorms and in the Academy year-round.

How fast can my child complete their high school education?
The rate at which any student completes credits depends on their personal motivation and their academic skill base. The minimum rate at which students are required to complete school is accelerated by a third of the pace of a traditional school year. To clarify, in the time that a student in a traditional school completes one semester of academic credit, a student at Cedar Ridge Academy completes nearly an additional quarter (one half of a semester) of credit. Students may accelerate beyond this minimum requirement as they choose, and as they complete assignments at the mastery requirement of 80%.

What if I want to enroll my child for just the summer semester, and then have them return to a traditional school in the fall?
For our summer semester, Cedar Ridge Academy offers our Summer Bridge Program with special course offerings. While students may enroll flexibly and complete as many credits as they are capable (usually two full credits), we also offer courses with more structured dates, such as our Shakespeare Language Arts course that involves a trip to the Utah Shakespeare Festival. Students may attend for the summer to earn nationally recognized credits from our accredited high school and return to a school of their choosing in the fall.

What if it is not feasible for us to visit the campus for an interview?
Because we draw students from all over the nation, and from remote places on the globe, we understand that it is not always possible for families to visit our campus as part of their consideration of enrollment in Cedar Ridge Academy. We are willing to conduct interviews by phone, through video conferencing, or through other means that we can arrange. Of course, visiting our campus gives families and students the most accurate impression of our student body and our campus.

What if I have questions?
As parents making a major decision for your child, you should have many questions. Our patient, friendly admissions counselor is here for you for just that—answering your questions and assisting you in making this decision regarding your child’s educational opportunities. Ask away!

How do I enroll my child as quickly as possible?
To enroll your child, ask for help from our Dean of Admissions. His job is to make this a smooth process for you, answering all of your questions and helping you with the paper work. Our admissions department is available by phone, email, or livechat.
